Start here

First time here? You’re in the right place! Welcome to Mother Tongue, a blog about raising bilingual children, with a little lifestyle and Lusophile (Portuguese related) stuff thrown in. Find out more about us.

This site has three main sections, click on the images below to hop to either:

Includes articles about raising bilingual children, interviews with experts, lists, how-to guides and activities for children and their grown ups. Occasionally I might review books or studies on the matter, and try to break it down for my busy readers. Most resources are in English and applicable to any language.

For lovers of, or those curious about, Portuguese language and culture. This section, written in English, celebrates Portuguese food, travel, culture and traditions, as well as that of the wider Portuguese speaking world.

My reflections on life and things I care about. I’m a mum of two small children in her forties, who loves food, coffee, the arts and multiculturalism. I care about diversity, equality, society, sustainability, kindness and entrepreneurship. If you care about some or all of these things, you might like it.

Also of interest…

Across all the three sections above, you will find reviews and interviews. If that’s what you’re after, just type the word on the search box.

I recommend products and services I believe in throughout the site: from bilingual resources and toys to foodie items. In the shop section, you’ll find a curation of things I recommend. I hope you find it helpful!
